The Zero System with ThermoPure

When you are called to clean one of Australia’s largest bus fleet you need equipment that has reliability, functionality, with muscle and performance to match.


Ionic System’s ‘Zero’ produces ultra pure water at zero parts per billion (0ppb). That represents the gold standard in Pure Water Production.

Water at 0ppb is, one thousand times more pure than water at 0ppm (zero parts per million). The fact that pure water cleans by dissolving dirt ions, it follows that water at 0ppb is capable of dissolving 1,000 times more dirt than water of 0ppm.

Other pure water cleaning systems remove only dissolved solids from the water supply. Uniquely, the Zero removes both dissolved solids and all organics as well as bacteria from the water supply. The result is water that is 1,000 times more pure. The result is also ultra-pure water that is free from micro-organisms such as ‘legionella’ bacteria and the organic matter that bacteria feeds upon. A significant benefit is that bio-film cannot form upon the surface of filter media or the RO membrane. That means that filters maintain day one performance which in turn means lower running costs.

As well as the superior cleaning power of 0ppb, ultra pure water (also known as 18 MΩ or 18 Meg water) the Zero is so much more, and used in so many more genres than automatically recognized.

The Implementation of Maintenance and what are the Results

Putting systems in heavy hard water areas, requires planning especially when large quantities of Ultra Pure Water is needed. The majority of our installations are in levels around 400 TDS PPM as a town water supply input. The first service plan carried out at eight months. Daily and weekly checks are in accordance with Ionic Systems recommendations have been carried out by local staff. At eight months a full service check was scheduled. What were the results:

Pure Water Production : In excess of 300,000 litres.

Water Out from PPM Filter DI: 10PPM after production of 300,000 litres of Ultra Pure water. To be noted as part of the normal filtration procedure water at this point is re-filtered, through NGI Nuclear Grade Resins.

PFS™, ROMS™ and PDI™, Ionic Systems Zero™ delivers spot free results that are unrivalled in
the world of pure water and waterfed pole cleaning.

ROMS™ – Reverse Osmosis Maintenance System.
At the end of each tank fill, pure water is diverted to the RO membrane housing. Leaving the RO
membrane bathing in pure water between fills ensures that dissolved solids (found in tap water)
do not foul the membrane. Further, dissolved solids that are not removed from the membrane surface
during Periodic Auto Flush cycles are absorbed by the pure water during the ‘rest period’ to be flushed
away during the first flush on startup.

PDI™ – This feature considerably extends DI
resin contact time. Ultra purification is achieved by repeated exposure of purified water to the final DI
polishing stage.
